Have you ever wanted to blindly point your finger on a map, and wherever it lands, just GO? Well, that is exactly what I did! A couple years ago, my sister worked as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. I was lucky enough to be put on her flight benefits list! This means I got to fly standby to wherever I wanted, as long as there was room on the plane. I used this to my full advantage and went to as many places as I could!
One day, I wanted to go somewhere only for the day. I could not decide between a few places I had in mind. So, I had my friend write those places down and put them in a hat. I picked a paper out of the hat, and sure enough, it read SEATTLE, WA. An hour later, I was on my way to the airport! It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was going alone, with no plans at all! It ended up being one of my favorite trips to date.

Because of my lack of plans, I really had to go with wherever the city took me! I knew I wanted to go to Pike’s Place Market. So that is exactly where I headed. I jumped on the subway and headed to the market. The city was BEAUTIFUL. Moody, yet warm, creative people all around! good food! It was amazing. As I got to Pike’s Place, I looked around and took in all of the senses around me. Fish being thrown from person to person. The smell of fresh flowers filling the air. The look on the faces buying the flowers. The smell of clam chowder coming from the pier. The smiling faces sticking another piece of gum on the gum wall. It was MAGICAL. Since I did not know what to do, I started asking around. I was told by a local florist to go to Beecher’s Mac & Cheese. This has become my favorite food in possibly the whole world. I went a second time just so I could take some home with me!!
Highlights of the trip:
-Beecher’s mac and cheese
-Fresh beautiful pink peonies
-Time to self-reflect and go out of my comfort zone
-Rush of doing something new & unknown
-Sailboat to watch for whales
-Clam chowder on the pier
There were truly so many good things about this trip, and it was only ONE DAY! I always think about this experience and use it to motivate me for future decisions. If you ever get an opportunity like this, TAKE IT.
