Today I wanted to write list of the best places to look when creating a travel itinerary! I wanted to write about this to also address the places you should NOT rely on, and why!
FIRST
The first place you should always look when creating an itinerary is Pinterest! I love Pinterest for a lot of reasons. It contains hundreds and thousands of different blogs. This is people’s REAL reviews of places they’ve been and things they’ve done! There are THOUSANDS. This is extremely helpful because Pinterest allows you to find these blogs and websites all in one place, by searching “Paris Itinerary.” etc. It will give you tons of ideas of things you should add to your itinerary, and maybe also some things you should stay away from. I LOVE Pinterest. It is an extremely helpful tool for many reasons!
NEXT
The next place you should check when making an itinerary is your friends and family! Ask people who you know what their favorite things were about places and learn from their travels! You may receive some of the most valuable and helpful information from your friends! If you’re unsure who has been to this specific location, post a poll on you Instagram or Facebook story! Ask friends to reach out to you if they have been to the location. Social media increases our resources immensely! It’s a good idea to use it to our advantage.
WHERE NOT TO LOOK
It’s easy to see an Instagram post or photo and think, “I want to go HERE.” The problem with Instagram photos is they are often posed, and created for maximum aesthetic pleasing. Often, the places posted on Instagram are not all enjoyable. Many times, they just make for a good photo. Or even a good pre-photoshop photo. Instagram is full of photos that are extremely unrealistic. This creates hope to see places and do things that are not even REAL. I used to explore the locations of places I wanted to go. I soon realized that these Instagram tags did not represent these places at all. So, it may be fun to see others’ posts about a place your going, but do not let it CHANGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS and definitely don’t use to to create your itineraries!
DO NOT SPEND A LOT OF MONEY CREATING AN ITINERARY
My next advice is DO NOT buy expensive itineraries or use travel agents!! Our modern world gives us SO MANY resources to help us travel on our own. This saves us tons of money and allows us to create the itinerary that WE WANT. So do yourself a favor, and the next time you go to travel, BROWSE PINTEREST AND YOUR FRIENDS. YOU WON’T REGRET IT.
